Overview & Reviews
As this is just the third new Range Rover in 31 years, one might hope that the 2003 Range Rover hosts some significant improvements. Indeed it does. Land Rover has focused on improving drivability and livability. As such, this updated flagship SUV features unit body construction, a four-wheel independent suspension and a BMW-engineered V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. It also boasts more interior space, greater ground clearance and a beautifully revised interior.
- Vastly superior to the one it replaces, sumptuous interior, nonpareil off-road capability.
- Price premium, poor reputation for build quality, difficult to use stereo and navigation system.

Impressive, but not perfect. - 2003 Land Rover Range Rover
By nomarkup - October 2 - 10:00 amMUCH better than 2002 Mercedes G500. Great ride. Beautiful detailing. But, navigation system horrible compared to Japanese DVD based systems.

Fantastic Car, but have a warranty - 2003 Land Rover Range Rover
By RC - August 15 - 12:46 pmI love the RR, will likely buy another. My advice is always have a warranty (factory) because they are expensive to fix. Ive had some routine problems that were very expensive to fix on this car (two examples are the alternator and starter).

The best SUV on the road - 2003 Land Rover Range Rover
By Catlover - July 4 - 10:00 amMy 5th Range Rover in 6 years. The new 4.4 liter BMW engine makes all the difference and provides the performance the previous models were lacking. This car rides like a dream, handles like a dream and has the sporty performance of a BMW! I am not crazy about the lights but Rover has succeeded in maintaining the look. This is a much bigger car compared to the old one and an awesome vehicle all round.

2003 Range Rover - 2003 Land Rover Range Rover
By DAKF - March 18 - 8:00 amMechanically, it has been a great car (if you can overlook getting 14 mpg). Its absolutely the most comfortable Rover yet and drives like a dream. I have had no mechanical breakdowns, but have had many incidental repairs, from interior pieces coming off to the radio/nav system going down.

So they do live up to their Reputation, atleat the 03-05 - 2003 Land Rover Range Rover
By jma3 - December 16 - 8:53 amI bought a beautiful bronze color HSE with 49k miles. All was fine the first year until my second and third year gremlins started taking over- Please get yourself a factory or extended warranty for as long as you own this SUV. Coolant reservoir exploded without warning and light inside cabin came on only after damage was done- coolant hoses explode. Fuel pump, alternator, battery, thermostat, dashboard readout console, navigation, overheating, heater hose, and endless electrical issues ALL went out thru my ownership including headlamps not illuminating at times. My RR left me stranded 4-5 times on the road. I would only get a preowned again with a warrantly no matter the mileage.

Overpriced/Unreliable - 2003 Land Rover Range Rover
By Jeffrey Thompson - October 27 - 12:50 pmWhen I purchased this vehicle it had only 8k miles...I love the way the car looks but since my purchase it has been one nightmare after another..Ive had to make repairs almost every month..It has many design flows. After five years of owning it I would have to say I will never buy another RR. It is over-priced and over-rated...I made my final payment on it in December..Today is January 20th, I am picking it up from the shop. The cost this time was $5500.00. I hate I bought this vehicle..

Very costly - 2003 Land Rover Range Rover
By mlaxiniowa - August 7 - 8:23 pmWe enjoy this car when its working. However, weve had repeated radiator problems. All repairs are very expensive and service is lacking. Can take up to 6 weeks to get parts.

2003 Range Rover @ 2200 miles - 2003 Land Rover Range Rover
By Thomas R. - July 22 - 10:00 amgot rid of my Mercedes ML320, which was totally loaded and had a sticker of $50k when purchased new in 2001. The Ml was nice but was in the shop for a lot of little things that I felt should never have broken. This Range Rover exceeds the ML in all catagories. For style, ride, and shear "show" value. The mercedes is nice but you see them everywhere. When you see a Range Rover , you notice it.

Only minor problems - 2003 Land Rover Range Rover
By sam818 - June 14 - 2:00 amGreat all round; but a few minor problems: steering wheel adjust will not go up/down, radio always reverts to "no tune" after being parked; strange "static" crackle in the voice of the navigation system. Engine and transmission roar is a little more than expected.
